Grab your picnic blankets and spread out for a fun evening by the creek. WC Food: Cucumbers on Fire + Jiji Frozen Custard

Paws on the Patio at Stone Brewing August 27th
I’m a fan of dogs, the SPCA, and beer. This event should have all three. While traveling around the state this past week we went to many breweries and met many fine dogs. Stella the Great Dane was great and just beat out Honey the kind of round Golden Retriever for Best Brewery Dog Seen While on Vacation Award.
It is Stone Brewing’s 26th anniversary, and to celebrate we wanted to work with the community, so we are hosting another Paws on the Patio!
A percentage of draft pours for the day will be donated to the Richmond SPCA. A representative from the Richmond SPCA will be on-site for you to learn more about their lifesaving work!
All pets are welcome on our patio as long as they are leashed and under owner’s control. Bring your furry friends to grab a refreshing beverage and food from our Live Buena food trailer!
Taproom Hours: 12-9pm Food Trailer Hours: 12-8pm

Paint Party Fundraiser at Strangeways Brewing (Dabney Rd) August 20th
Painting while drinking ensures that you’ll be more relaxed and creative and will create a masterpiece. The Mona Lisa was painted while DaVinci was blind stinking drunk or at least I think it happened that way. Added bonus this paint party is for a good cause.
Presented by Aura Management to benefit the National Kidney Foundation. Come for the painting, stay for the party! Let out your inner artist at Strangeways Brewing with an instructed paint class from 2-4 to benefit a worthy cause. Admission includes all the painting supplies you will need. After you’ve created your masterpiece, stay and hang out with us for a night filled with live music and dancing. While you’re here, try out your luck with our fun raffles, including a wide variety of fantastic prizes donated by our local community! Live out of town but still want to paint with us? We have a few options for you to participate virtually! We can send you the supplies you’ll need, or we can send you just the virtual link, and you can use the supplies you have at home.
Richmond Moon Market at Stone Brewing August 20th
It’s a nice little market with unique items. Shop and drink it’s a thing to do on a Saturday.
The Richmond Moon Market hosts artists, healers and vendors of handmade crafts, art, jewelry, apparel, tarot readings, clothes, home goods, plants, crystals, metaphysical work, herbal healing, magic craft supplies, wild-crafted botanical products, vegan products, and more. We want to build inclusive community and support local makers.
Richmond did pretty well. Although, I’m disappointed in the judges’ lack of love for Triple Crossing. I’m not going to post the full list of winners because you need go to Richmond BizSense since they did the compiling.

Carbon dioxide shortage brewing up trouble for breweries in central Virginia – NBC12
Gott said his bill for CO2 was more than he usually pays due to a shortage in carbon dioxide.
“Gasoline Fees, of course, fuel fees and the surcharges for the disruption of the CO2 supply was $743,” Gott said.
He said the disruption was due to one of the larger CO2 providers in the country running into a contamination issue last month.
Gott said now his supplier has to drive hundreds of miles for an ingredient that goes into what you drink and helps push your beer through the production process.

Plan for 13 and 17-story apartment towers could block iconic view of Richmond skyline – CBS 6
That view could soon change with the building of a new high-rise apartment.
Avery Hall Investors, a development company based in New York, has plans to build River’s Edge II, an apartment complex set to include more than 500 units, at 301 West Sixth Street.
Plans include one 13-story tower and one 17-story tower.
These plans differ from the original building plans that were proposed back in 2019, which were then approved by Richmond City Council in June of 2020. Those plans called for an 11-story tower with up to 350 units.
It’s not a done deal but we’ll see or not see in the future.
