Fourth of July is just around the corner and residents in the Fayetteville area are buying up colorful explosives in preparation for the holiday but not all fireworks are legal in the state.
Under North Carolina law, sparklers, smoke devices, snake, glow worms, party poppers, string poppers and snappers are legal for purchase by anyone 16 or older. That means most fireworks, like those awe-inducing, high-flying ones that light up the night sky, are not legal to possess here unless specially permitted and could result in a misdemeanor citation.
