You can now cast your vote in the “biggest and best” Camping Awards ever as the quest begins to find the cream of 2023’s new tents and camping equipment

The Camping Awards are being expanded to create more categories than ever before. And, for the first time, the camping public will also have a say, with the chance to vote for your favourite tent brand, campsite and retailer as well as the Camping Hero of the Year.

Voting in the public categories is open now - click here to have your say.

The 11th annual awards will also cover lightweight camping gear and trailer tents/folding campers, in addition to family tents and accessories.

All the awards results will be announced online at outandaboutlive.co.uk ahead of the NEC show in February 2023 and will be published in special print and digital issues of Camping magazine on sale that month.

In addition to the individual categories, we will also be announcing the prestigious winner of the Tent of the Year title, the best overall Family Camping Accessory and the Lightweight Product of the Year.

Iain Duff, Camping magazine Editor, said,

We believe our awards are the most important in the UK family camping market. They are all about helping consumers decide how to spend their hard-earned money and rewarding the brands who have invested in innovation and design. As the awards continue to grow, I’m delighted to announce the changes we’re making for 2023 to make them even better. This will be the biggest and best awards we have done and I’m particularly pleased that we are going to be giving all campers the chance to have their say, too.

Here is the shortlist of candidates you can vote for as the Camping Hero of 2023.

Max Woosey – The boy in the tent

Schoolboy Max, aged 12, has been camping out in his garden every night since March 2020 and has raised more than £600,000 for a local hospice in north Devon.

Dean Nicholson – Around-the-world cyclist

Since 2018, Dean has been cycling and camping his way around the world, accompanied by Nala, a kitten he met in the Balkans early on his journey.

Julia Bradbury – The First Lady of camping

TV presenter, Julia, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and has used her public profile to raise awareness of the disease as well as the benefits of spending time outdoors.

Ian Alcorn – Great British Campout founder

Dad-of-two, Ian, raised more than £200,000 for the NHS through the Great British Campout, which encouraged people to camp out in their homes and gardens during lockdown.

Kerry Godliman – Camping-loving comedian

Actor and comedian, Kerry, is a high profile champion of camping, even inventing a camping-themed round on the panel show, Question Team, where she declared: “I love camping”.

Bear Grylls – TV survivalist and outdoors champion

Bear has spent time in the wild with President Obama, slept inside a dead camel and drank his own wee. His aim is to encourage more people to enjoy the great outdoors.
